How much has the insurance industry paid to Joe Lieberman to derail health care reform?

I mean let’s face it. He is in the capitol of the insurance industry with all the major companies headquartered in Connecticut. A majority of his constituents wanted a public option. Clearly his friends in the insurance industry didn’t, so he fights it tooth and nail, not even accepting a seriously watered-down version of it. Is it really that implausible to think he’s getting something out of it?
Uh… second answer down… (sorry I can’t figure out how to recreate your name LOL) I agree. It should.
Zap: Thank you for the link.
Joe: If you read the body of my question, you will see that I am speculating. But after reading the article Zap posted, I’m sure facts could be found if someone DID look into this.

His state is headquarters for 70+ Insurance companies. His bank account should be scrutinized.

Millions…check out this article from 2001!

No wonder he’s an Independent, now…there is no “Insurance Party”.

Exactly what I was thinking. Lieberman is on record as recently as 2006 in support of single-payer healthcare insurance. This change-of-heart is too convenient.

How much did the Government pay AARP, pharmaceutical companies and the AMA to back their horrible reform bill?

My bet is he has not received one single dime of illegitimate funds. Your politicians don’t get campaign donations from folks they agree with or support? You hypocrites should really shut up while you have your foot in your mouths.

My gut answer is: Remove him from any chairmanship, NOW. I know I’m playing fire with fire here. But I’ve always believed that congress people with “I’s” next to their names are two-faced – - facing D or R to suit their benefactor’s and reelection needs. Senator Lieberman is the most notorious, being pro-Medicare expansion as v.p. of Al Gore, then opposing the current Senate’s bill.

I’m thinking the industry didn’t pay anything DIRECTLY to Lieberman, but I bet they donated to Lobbyists, who gave donations in return for voting in a certain way. Corrupt. The American People lose again, and the republican bloggers proudly report that this is a good thing.

NOT as much as the UNIONS has paid Obama to throw….the country….

The health care has nothing to do with health care….it is taking care of the Unions and the REDISTRIBUTION of WEALTH…it is the Progressive creed….

Gosh, I don’t know. How many people in his state rely on those insurance companies for their paycheck? Could it be that he’s attempting to avoid the liberals from turning his state into a welfare wonderland of unemployment? How many people are going to be put out of work if this bill goes through?

Why are the Democrats so hell bent on destroying the country? Didn’t they do enough damage with Hillary’s HMO scheme? Funny that now they are vilifying those same companies that Hillary empowered. What happened? And so for a reward for such a dismal failure, they reward her with a position in his cabinet.

Not that I particularly care for Joe, I suspect he’s probably the only liberal in Washington to have actually given this any amount of thought and has realized to some degree just what it REALLY means.

Not as much as obama paid the pharma. companys, and now the dirtbag is making it so that people can’t go to Canada for cheaper meds, i thought obama was for the lower and middle class. Oh and how much did the lady senator, the fat one who got millions to do a 180, obama he is on top of that bribery game.
